A staircase lighting timer, also called a staircase timer, is a type of timer used to turn on the lighting and leave it on for a specified time, after which the lighting is automatically turned off. The staircase lighting switch (staircase lighting timer) is most often used to control the lighting of circulation routes (e.g. corridors, staircases). By pressing the button (e.g. a bell button, or a light switch), the staircase lighting timer switches on and maintains the lighting for the set time. After this time has elapsed, the staircase lighting timer switches the lighting off automatically. After the lighting has been switched off, pressing the switch again activates the staircase lighting switch, which switches the lighting on again for the set time.
